ATOMICA
UX / PRODUCT DESIGN

CONTEXT

After the success of the Priceline App Launch, the Wesfarmers Health team looked to use some of the learnings from that project in order to launch an ecommerce website for their new challenger brand, Atomica.

The site is due to launch in July of '26, but their lead Designer Tom needed a hand getting the end to end flow for that site locked down across mobile and desktop. Brett Johnstone, the project manager from the Priceline App launch tapped my on the shoulder and asked me to come back in for 4 weeks to help Tom get the design work for the site build ready, in order to hand over to devs with plenty of time for QA and testing ahead of launch.

I mobilised rapidly and worked with Tom, alongside a small cross disciplinary team who had helped ship Priceline, to lock down the end to end flows for the cart and checkout experience. We decided to concentrate my efforts on locking down the UX for mobile, so that once approved they could then roll out UI using the design system that another Designer Nathan was building in parallel.

OUTCOME

Finalised UX Design for the end to end flow of the cart and checkout experience for mobile, executed in around two weeks and approved amongst a cross disciplinary team who I had worked with to ship the Priceline app.

This was an awesome outcome for the team, as it completed one of the heaviest chunks of work in the new site design, making it UI ready well ahead of their deadlines and positioning them to succesfully ship the site on time and on budget.

PRICELINE
UI / UX / PRODUCT DESIGN

CONTEXT

My marching orders for this project were to ‘get things done'. More specifically I worked frenetically during a very short, highly pressurised period of time in a highly dynamic, complex and challenging environment to ensure that the redesign of the Priceline App went from being a project in the red, to delivering a functional MVP into the market. That is exactly the outcome we achieved.

I was responsible for designing screens and flows across the cart and checkout / 'you page' / wish list  and splash screen. An incredible amount of compromise was necessary across particularly the cart and checkout experiences in order to ship an MVP.

Compromise was the key word for this project, at almost every level, u
ltimately however it is a success story. The tale of a group of dedicated and passionate people facing into the howling chaos of a deeply complicated situation, with time on the clock counting down towards an immovable looming deadline, and prevailing against all adversity to deliver a solid result.

Whilst we as a team had to make a great deal of sacrifices, and compromise at every turn in order to ship the MVP for the app into the market, it provided Priceline with a decent foundation upon which to build something awesome in the years to come.

As every person who works in product design knows, shipping a product to market is not the end, but the beginning. As I said to the team on my last Teams call before wrapping up: 'The worst of it is now behind, and you have an exciting opporunity before you to create something really special. Take good care of each other, and keep moving forward. Carry on!'

OUTCOME

I joined the project in June of 2025, at that time a significant amount of the app had either not yet been designed or had not been approved for build. For the next 4 months, we worked furiously day in and day out to get a viable MVP designed, approved, built and into the market, come whatever may. In late October / early November of 2025, both the Android and iOS versions of the app went live to the public.
