MARK WALES
SITE DESIGN + BUILD
CONTEXT
Mark Wales is a former special operations commander. After years of military service he embarked on a journey to reinvent himself, a process of transformation that lead him to become the entrepreneur, keynote speaker and author he is today.
Referred to me by a mutual acquaintance, the first thing we did was sit down and have a discussion about where he was at with his various undertakings and what he had in mind for his personal brand moving forward. With the reveal of his upcoming book 'Survivor' a little over two weeks away from the date of our initial meeting, he commissioned me to rebrand his business, redesign and rebuild his existing website.
We quickly established that the existing site infrastructure in terms of domain, hosting and platform were all performing admirably and did not need to be adjusted. Upon that foundation I set out to design a new brand, layout and user journey that better enabled Mark's prospective customers and clients to engage with him, whether that meant purchasing his new book, or contacting him about speaking engagements or other business endeavours. Mark was very pleased with the first round conceptual work, both for the brand and the site, so after very minor adjustments we were quickly able to progress to the build phase.
One of the greatest complexities in this particular project came from the fact that the new site had to be built in tandem to the existing site. This was relatively straightforward technically, but delicate to execute, as the slightest wrong move could lead to either a compromise of the functionality of the existing site, or to an inadvertent reveal of his up and coming publication.
From initial meeting, through design to a seamless build and launch process, I executed the entire project in around 50 hours, going live in time for the reveal of his memoir to the world.
